Is Google working on a new ‘Spoiler Blocker’ to avoid reading spoilers online?
There is finally some good news for all those viewers who are sick and tired of coming across spoilers of their favorite TV shows which take over social media. Tech giant Google has been awarded a new ‘anti-spoiler’ patent via which, a system would track the TV show or movie you are viewing in progress and filter out all the information on what you have not watched, yet.
According to a report by Time, the new patent does not talk about what sites the system would filter out, for example Facebook or Twitter. This idea comes to Google as many customers are now opting for on-demand streaming services such as Netflix over the traditional cable subscriptions. Also, people get annoyed at the fact that these streaming models put up entire seasons online at once which in fact, promotes viewers to purposely leak out spoilers.
The report points out that there isn’t a reason to be happy just yet, as large companies such as Google aren’t required to turn a patented technology into reality. Even if they make the attempt, it would probably take many years. But we sure hope, they can get this sorted.
At the moment, online streaming content is growing rapidly and will only continue to grow as many viewers are flocking towards online video streaming content, including many advertisers. At this point, it would be a good idea for Google’s ‘spoiler blocker’ as it would curb down spoilers online.
