Good
news for Apple developers: the Cupertino giant launched a bunch of new
resources for its Swift programming language on Friday.
Announced
at WWDC 2014, Swift is Apple's new programming language for iOS and OS
X. Early response from developers has been positive, with many seeing
Swift making it easier for new programmers to come to the iOS and OS X
ecosystems.
Apple's Swift page includes a new Swift blog and updated resources for developers.
The
Swift blog will offer behind-the-scenes glimpses at the design of Swift
and will serve as the official home for news and tips and tricks. This
is unusual, because it's one of the few times Apple has create a blog
for any of its developer resources — the WebKit project being the
notable exception.
Apple has also updated its Swift resources page, including links to download the latest beta build of Xcode 6.

Meanwhile,
Xcode 6 beta 3 is available to all registered Apple developers. Basic
developer registration — which includes Xcode 6 access and access to
other resources and documentation — is free.
If
you want to access the developer betas for iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, as
well as the ability to submit apps to the App Store, you'll need to
register for the iOS and Mac developer programs. Each membership is $99 a
year.
There's a lot of great stuff
in Xcode 6, including a new Interface Builder and new Playgrounds that
let users see the results of edited code instantly.
