Apple
has found a new tactic to attract more non-iPhone users towards their
devices. The company has introduced a trade-in program wherein users
with old Android, BlackBerry and Windows phone can trade in their
devices to receive a discount to buy an iPhone.
The
Verge pointed out that earlier, Apple only accepted old iPhones. These
trade-in programs will start at Apple stores in the US, Canada, UK,
Germany, France and Italy. The company will only accept phones which are
in a good and working condition. The trade-in program is an attempt to
boost iPhone sales. The report added that, Apple is running the program
through a US-based privately held corporation called Brightstar, that
distributes mobile phones and other devices.
Apple
first launched its standard iPhone Reuse and Recycle trade-in program
in 2013. The trade-in allowed users to exchange an older iPhone model
for a new iPhone at a discounted price. At that moment, an iPhone had to
be an on-contract phone and had to be activated on the spot. The value
was said to based on parameters like display quality, button quality,
overall hardware damage, engraving, liquid damage and being able to be
powered on and used normally.
