A
report by Times Of India says that Micromax’s successor to the Yu aka
‘Project Ceasar’ running Android Lollipop will be launched in second
half of April.
Micromax’s
online venture Yu has confirmed once again that its upcoming Yureka
handset will come with the Android Lollipop update. The successor to the
Yureka smartphone has been codenamed ‘Project Caesar’. And in it’s
latest promo ad for the device, the company has taken a dig at Xiaomi.
A
post on its official Facebook account reads, “KitKat in the age of
Lollipop? Give Me a break!” But significantly, the ‘Me’ looks like
Xiaomi’s ‘Mi’ logo.
The
company seems to be mocking Xiaomi’s Mi devices for running rather
older Android KitKat. The recently launched launched Redmi 2 and MiPad
both run the MIUI 6 Operating System, which is based on Android 4.4
KitKat.
It
was soon followed by another tease that said, “Lollipop comes
pre-loaded with Project Caesar! Why would YU buy anything else?”
In
an interview with BGR India, Rahul Sharma, the co-founder of Yu
Televentures, had said YU will be launching ‘Project Caeser’ with
Cyanogen OS 12 which is based on Android Lollipop.
The
Yu Yureka smartphone runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat OS with the CyanogenMod
CM11S ROM atop it. It is a 5.5-inch phone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615
SoC.
Being the first phone from the Yu brand, the Yureka comes with impressive specs.
It’s
powered by the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 system on chip which
houses an octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and the Adreno 405 GPU
clocked at 550MHz. It comes paired with 2GB of DDR3 RAM and offers 16GB
of storage of which 12.8GB is available to the user. You can expand the
storage via the microSD card slot by 32GB. Yureka is a dual SIM phone
and it supports Cat4 4G LTE with TDD 2300MHz and FDD 1800MHz bands
supported for India.
