Google
is about to launch some new functionalities to its Chrome OS, the
primary being the Chrome Launcher 2.0. At the moment this feature will
only be accessible to those using the Chrome OS beta.
According
to developer Francois Beaufort, “This new launcher is the best way to
start new activities on Chrome OS, like performing a Google search or
launching apps. It’s fast, simple, and helps you get things done.”
The
new launcher looks similar to Google Now and also shows updates in the
card format. There is a search bar at the top as well. Considering it is
a launcher, you also get the app list which you can access when your
need them.
Apart
from the launcher, you will also get other features such as
password-protected ZIP support which lets you unzip password-protected
ZIP files. Timezone auto-update lets Chrome OS automatically detect
changes in location of users and update the system’s timezones. Finally,
the files app will get the material design layout.
Users can also send their feedback on these new features on the Chrome OS beta.
