Instagram’s
latest stand-alone app, lets users combine multiple photos and post
them as a single image. Called Layout, it is the second app that
Facebook-owned Instagram has released. Last August, it came out with
Hyperlapse, which lets users create time-lapse videos to share on
Instagram.
Layout
lets users choose custom layouts for photo collages, rearranging the
images and adjusting their size and shape. A feature called Faces shows
users all the photos in their camera that feature people. Another tool,
called Photo Booth, works like a real-life photo booth, counting down to
capture photos instantly.
The app is available for iOS devices, and Instagram says it will be available for Android devices in the coming months.
Earlier,
Instagram had rolled out new ‘carousel’ ads will allows brands to post
multiple images, which users can scroll through by swiping their finger
across the phone’s screen.
Instagram, which Facebook acquired in 2012 for $1 billion, has 300 million monthly users.
The
new ad service marks the latest step in Instagram’s effort to position
its mobile service as an online marketing channel. Instagram introduced
photo ads in late 2013 and rolled out video ads last year.
