Apple has reportedly started inviting users to test their upcoming iOS update for the very first time.
The
company launched a page online where can sign up to try the new iOS 8.3
before it is released later this year. Users will need to install a
package file onto their iPhone which will firstly, clear the device for
beta software.
According
to a report by The Verge, the iPhone maker gained valuable feedback
when it ran a public beta of OS X on the desktop. It now aims to extend
this program to cover iOS as well. The current version – iOS 8.2 was
released after the Apple Watch event last week and also added support
for the company’s latest wearable.
Apart
from bug fixes, the new iOS 8.3 version will include new emojis,
wireless CarPlay and easier logins for Google users. As this is a beta
version, users are likely run into some glitches and bugs that will not
be present in the final version when it is released. An earlier report
had said that the public beta program for iOS will be limited to 100,000
people to maintain a higher level of exclusivity.
On
the other hand, the upcoming iOS 9 is rumoured to focus on stability,
optimisations and not just feature additions. iOS 9 will be first shown
during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June (WWDC) and
released in September for the public after the new iPhones are unveiled.
