Taj Mahal among the top searched destinations on Google Street View in Asia

Taj Mahal among the top searched destinations on Google Street View in Asia
Taj Mahal, Agra ranks third in the list for the top 10 Street View destinations in Asia by Google. Japan still attracts most of the world’s virtual tourists, cultural monuments and temples. In the lead are Hashima Island and Mount Fuji in Japan.
According to the Google Asia Pacific Blog, India’s iconic Taj Mahal, which was published on Street View February 2014, has emerged as one of the most popular Asian places for global virtual travelers. This destination is viewed by people not only in India but also in Singapore, Australia, Korea, Philippines and Malaysia.
Unfortunately, Google Street View does not work in India for regular cities. But Google has partnered with Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to have around 100 national monuments on Street View.
Apart from the Taj Mahal, people also viewed Angkor’s thousand-year-old temples on Street View. The blog mentioned that the temples attract over 2 million tourists a year in offline tourism.
Most people prefer to visit cultural heritage sites when they are looking at Street View. Other top searches in India include the Red Fort in New Delhi along with the Qutub Minar in New Delhi as well.
