Acer
has announced its new convertible in India dubbed the Aspire R13. The
device is available through Croma retail stores and carries a hefty
price tag starting at Rs 83,999. It runs Windows 8.1 and claims to be
among the very few devices that are Skype-certified.
Sporting
a 13.3-inch display, the Aspire R13 is less than inch thin and just
over 1.5 kgs. The full HD 1920 x 1080 display supports Zero Air Gap
Technology, anti-fingerprint technology and a built-in light sensor that
automatically adjusts the screen’s brightness. It also gets a layer of
Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
It
comes with Acer’s Ezel Aero Hinge, allowing display to rotate into six
different modes. The notebook mode aims at offering a spacious keyboard
and the ezel mode helps bring the display closer for convenient reading
and web browsing. The stand mode is to simplify drawing a flow chart,
taking notes, editing artwork and so on.
There’s
the pad mode that converts the device into a tablet for web browsing,
playing games or watching videos. The tent mode claims to be an ideal
position when space is limited, such as an airplane’s seatback tray.
Finally, the display mode is for viewing photos and videos.
Acer
also lets users opt for an optional Active Pen. The pen has a pressure
sensor for professional drawing and a hover sensor for easy access to
functions.
The
device is powered by fourth generation Intel Core i5 processor, has up
to 512 GB of SSD with RAID-0 support and up to 8GB of memory. The audio
features include Dolby Digital Plus Home Theatre, Acer Purified Voice
and dual air-intake design. Completing the package, it includes a
battery that promises to deliver up to 8 hours of battery life.
Vineet
Durani, Director – Windows Business Group, Microsoft India said, “While
smartphones are very personal and laptops are predominantly viewed as
work devices, 2-in-1s offer the flexibility of having both the
efficiency and productivity of a PC and the ease and mobility of a
tablet. The Windows-based Aspire R 13 from Acer is a great companion
device for consumers and we are excited to be a part of the launch
today.”
All
models come pre-installed with Acer Hover Access pen-enabled software.
Then there’s the Acer Touch Tools app that comes with Acer Screen Grasp
and Acer AccuFinger. Screen Grasp makes it easy to capture any image,
personalise it and then share on social networks. Acer AccuFinger helps
to accurately place the cursor in text documents and acquire tiny items
on the screen when using fingers.
