Most
of us have used the Google Earth software, but not many of us have used
the Pro version that is priced at a hefty $399 per year. However, now
each one of us can get a taste of the Pro features as Google makes it
absolutely free.
With
Google Earth Pro, which was earlier aimed at professional explorers,
one can now access features such as advanced measurement tools,
additional import options and high-res photo printing. It also allows
governments and organisations to create detailed maps and HD fly-through
videos using the data stored in Google.
In
the official Lat-long blog, “Starting today, even more people will be
able to access Google Earth Pro: we’re making it available for free.
Google Earth Pro has all the easy-to-use features and detailed imagery
of Google Earth, along with advanced tools that help you measure 3D
buildings, print high-resolution images for presentations or reports,
and record HD movies of your virtual flights around the world. ”
However,
Google hasn’t really mentioned the reason for making it a freeware.
Tech enthusiasts have been speculating several reasons from rise in
competition from other mapping software like Apple Maps and also the
possibility that the software wasn’t making money anyway.
