Lava
is all set to launch the Iris X8 in the Indian market and has even
begun teasing the upcoming device on its website. The official Lava site
now shows a large numeric ‘8’ and the tag line that reads, “Get ready
to Do More! Coming Soon.”
Now,
e-commerce website Flipkart ‘accidentally’ listed the smartphone on its
website, before it was subsequently pulled out. However, not before
FoneArena managed to get the details.
The Iris X8, according to the report, was listed for Rs 8,999. The X8 is believed to Lava’s answer to Micromax’s Yu Yureka.
The
listing also showed the X8 as a dual SIM smartphone sporting a 5-inch
HD IPS display along with a layer of Asahi Dragontrail glass protection.
On the camera front, expect an 8MP rear snapper and a 3MP front-facing
camera.
This
time around, Lava has employed a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek processor
coupled with 2GB RAM. With 16GB of onboard storage, it also supports
microSD cards of up to 32GB. The device runs Android KitKat and Lava
claims that it will support Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade, and a 2500mAh
battery completes the package.
It should be noted that the iris X8 is the successor to the X5 launched last year.
